Galway TaiKai
Bujinkan Alan Dojo
Bujinkan Alan Dojo is delighted to welcome Kan sensei, Soke Gyokushin ryu, for his first TaiKai outside Japan.
You cannot miss this opportunity to train with the enigma that is Kan sensei.
The theme of the TaiKai will be Hanbo and Kusari-fundo.
Supported by his long-time student, Pól Mac Fionmhacáin, who brings a unique connection to the Ryu and Ireland, this seminar offers a rare glimpse into the mysterious and rarely taught Gyokushin Ryu. Prepare for an intensive experience.
The TaiKai will be held in the Sportsdome, Galway, on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of August 2026.
Price is 200€ per ticket and covers the two days.
A small number of one-day tickets are available for 130€, contact Alan for details.
A dinner will be organised on Sunday night. It is going to be in the form of a buffet and places are limited to 80 people. If interested, make sure to tick the box for the dinner when registering.
Sakki test
For anyone wanting to do the Sakki test, you must bring a copy of your 4th Dan certificate, a passport size photo and have your 4th dan for a minimum of one year.
T-Shirts will be available at the event for 30€. You can pre-order your size by sending Alan a message.
A limited number of hanbo and Kusarifundo will be available for sale at the TaiKai:
- 18€ for an ash wooden hanbo
- 10€ for a rope Kusarifundo
TaiKai Schedule
The TaiKai will be split into 3 two hours sessions per day with an hour break between each session.
Each day is organized as below:
10:00 - 12:00
Kihon
13:00 - 15:00
Taijutsu
16:00 - 18:00
Buki
Hanbō or Kusarifundo. Some Hanbōs and Kusarifundo will be available for sale at the TaiKai.

Galway
Galway, a vibrant city steeped in history and renowned for its lively arts scene, offers a unique atmosphere. Beyond its charming streets and traditional music, Galway’s rugged coastline and energetic spirit provide the perfect backdrop for exploring the mysterious Gyokushin ruy ninpo.
Accommodation can be booked with hostels, hotels, Airbnb or B&B.
It is recommended to book accommodation early, August is a busy time with tourists.
Hostels are available in Galway city and might suit a group sharing a dormitory.
Ireland West (Knock) and Shannon airports are just over an hour away from Galway.
There are regular bus services to and from the airports which are operated by Irish Citylink and Bus Éireann.
The drive from Dublin to Galway on the M6 motorway is 140 miles and takes about 2.5 hours.
